File Size Guide

Click here to download our guide showing the relationship between film format, bit depth, optical scanner resolution and created file size.  File size is based on actual image area, not film dimensions.  These numbers may vary, as individual camera manufacturers may not agree on exact format dimensions.


Scheduling

Pixelnation is a small and highly specialized scanning studio.  Our normal job cycle is two weeks.  However, the size and complexity of your order will determine the actual completion date.  Priority service is available for an additional 100% rush charge.  Please contact us to discuss your needs, schedule your job and obtain an estimate.  Please do not send orders without prior notification.


Sending Film

When sending film to Pixelnation for scanning, please:

  1. 1)Take appropriate care to insure your film does not get damaged in transit.  (“How to Pack Film”, click here)

  2. 2)Send only the frame(s) to be scanned.

  3. 3)Remove slides from cardboard, glass or plastic mounts.  Sleeve the frame and/or use a PrintFile page.  The PrintFile 120-16HB works particularly well for 35mm.

  4. 4)Send your film via FedEx or UPS.  The Pixelnation studio is only 4 miles from the local FedEx facility and a mere 2 miles from the local UPS facility.  We have found it more reliable if packages are sent directly to these facilities rather than risk missing a delivery.  Once your package arrives at FedEx / UPS, we will be notified by the respective carrier and will promptly pick up your order. Payment

Upon completion of your order, you will receive an invoice via email.  We accept PayPal, Visa, Master Card and American Express.  The email will include complete instructions for making payment.  This is a secure transaction and at no time does Pixelnation have access to your financial information.  Once we receive notice that payment has been made, we will ship your order via the method you indicated on our Order Form.


File Storage

Once we complete your scan order, finished files are saved on our image server for a period of 30 days.  After 30 days your files will be deleted from our system.  Upon receiving your order, we recommend you immediately save the files to your hard drive and also open each file.  If you have trouble opening a file, please notify us immediately.
